Becoming a surrogate is an incredible act of compassion, strength, and generosity. However, if you’ve been considering this journey you’ve probably come across plenty of conflicting information—and maybe even a few myths that sound scary or confusing.
At New Dawn Surrogacy, we believe in transparency and support every step of the way. That’s why we’re clearing up the most common misconceptions about surrogacy so you can make an informed, confident decision about this life-changing journey.
FALSE! Surrogates do not share a genetic connection with the babies they carry! With Gestational Surrogacy, the only type of surrogacy we allow, embryos are created through the use of the parent’s eggs or through the use of donor eggs.
All of the Intended Parents we work with are doing so out of need, not out of desire. We only work with Intended Parents who cannot conceive without medical intervention. This ranges from heterosexual couples with fertility issues, to same-sex couples, to individuals. We never work with those who can conceive naturally but choose not to, and we take pride in helping those who desperately need our help.
While we offer an incredible benefits package ($45k-80k+ base compensation + $16.8k+ in benefits), we only work with surrogates who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of others. Just as we pride ourselves in helping others build their families, the surrogates we work with hold that same value above everything else they do. Being a surrogate is difficult, and it takes a truly special individual to see it through.
Surrogates know from the start that the baby isn’t theirs. Most describe the experience not as “giving up a baby” but as “giving back a baby” to their parents. It’s a moment of joy and celebration, not loss.
Legal safeguards ensure that the Intended Parents, or their chosen guardians, are responsible for the baby—not the surrogate. Even in rare cases where something unexpected happens, plans are in place so the surrogate isn’t left in a difficult position.
Surrogates are carefully matched with families they feel comfortable with and have the right to decline a match.
Many surrogates have had prior C-sections and qualify as long as they’ve had healthy pregnancies. With New Dawn Surrogacy, we allow a maximum of two previous C-sections.
Insurance, legal agreements, and additional compensation (like New Dawn’s Resilience Package) help ensure surrogates are financially and emotionally supported in rare situations.
Intended Parents cover all pregnancy-related medical expenses. You’ll never pay out-of-pocket.
At New Dawn Surrogacy we work to ensure surrogates are respected, appreciated, and supported throughout the entire journey. We treat the journey as if it is equally about you and your experience and do all we can to make it special!
