Surrogacy can be complicated, but we’re here to help!
➢ There are two types of surrogacy: Gestational Surrogacy, and Traditional Surrogacy.
➢ Gestational Surrogacy: This is the modern approach that New Dawn Surrogacy specializes in. With gestational surrogacy, the surrogate carries a baby who is not genetically related to her. The embryo is created using the Intended Parents’ (or donor’s) eggs and sperm through in vitro fertilization (IVF). This is the type of surrogacy we believe offers the clearest legal framework and strongest emotional boundaries for all parties involved.
➢ Traditional Surrogacy: In contrast, traditional surrogacy involves the surrogate using her own egg, which is fertilized with the Intended Father’s (or donor’s) sperm. This means the surrogate is the biological mother of the child. While this method has been used in the past, it’s less common today due to potential legal and emotional complexities.
➢ Why New Dawn Chooses Gestational Surrogacy: Our commitment to gestational surrogacy is rooted in our belief that it offers the most secure and fulfilling path to parenthood for Intended Parents, while also protecting the well-being of our surrogates. It allows for a clear genetic connection for the Intended Parents (if their own eggs/sperm are used) and minimizes the potential emotional complications that can arise with traditional surrogacy.
➢ Following your initial application and background check, we will assist you in creating a “profile”. Think of it as a social network of sorts – being used to showcase the details and preferences of our surrogates and Intended Parents.
➢ Intended Parents will first browse and show their interest in a surrogate, who will then allowed to see the Intended Parent’s profile. We will organize calls, and if possible arrange face-to-face meetings, to help both parties to get to know each other.
➢ If both sides feel a positive connection and want to move forward, we’ll guide you through the next steps, which include psychological and medical evaluations, as well as legal document preparation.
➢ Nope! Though we are based in sunny SoCal, we can work with you wherever you reside (barring a few select states that aren’t surrogacy-friendly)! It may be easier to work with you if you are located locally, but we will do everything in our power to help create a smooth and seamless surrogacy experience for everyone involved! If you are curious if you are in a state that is surrogacy-friendly or not, please reach out to us and we’ll be glad to talk with you!
➢ This is entirely up to you and the Intended Parents. We require this to be discussed prior to the embryo transfer. Being a surrogate is difficult, and with it comes a lot of emotional challenges as well. This can often include a sense of loss and loneliness following a birth, which makes it incredibly important to establish boundaries prior to being matched.
➢ Regardless of which path you and the Intended Parents choose, New Dawn Surrogacy, we will do everything we can to help you following the birth, as we will only stop supporting you once you are personally ready for it.
➢ Your Primary Support Person (typically a spouse or partner) will play a vital role in your journey. They’ll be there to offer support and encouragement every step of the way! Following the consultation, your Primary Support Person will have a separate video call with our surrogate professional to ensure they understand their important role and feel prepared to be your biggest advocate.
